Building an Accounting centric data warehouse (ACDW) is an incremental process. Overtime collection of data marts, each supporting a different analytical need or business process, are developed to composed the ACDW. What makes ACDW different from a data warehouse is the General Ledger integration. With GL data, a complete top to bottom view of the organization is available. Financial and managerial reports can be developed with greater detail. As additional sub-ledgers are added to the ACDW, the repository becomes more valuable to the enterprise and eventually the single platform for all financial decision support.
