The Sales Insights Analyst position is a customer facing role that supports the Sales, Marketing and Category Excellence teams by leveraging POS/syndicated/custom information to help retailers and The Company achieve higher sales and profitability.
The incumbent will mine multiple data sources and prepare in depth, value added analyses and recommendations that will drive consumer and customer business solutions. The position is responsible for tracking sales volume, to create and analyze sales reports and forecast sales trends/needs, as well as provide advice on assortment, pricing, merchandising, promotion and space management.
Job Context:
This individual will work with other team members to build customer or marketplace specific insights that uncover opportunities and satisfy the analytical needs of customer teams/marketplace and the broader organization.
Prioritize analytical requests, focusing on the opportunities that provide the largest gains in sales and profits delivering incremental volume. Converting multiple and frequently disparate data into accurate & meaningful insights, managing multiple deadlines, and dealing with team members & customers additional demands.
Creates category, assortment, promotion, and pricing reviews, analyzes data to uncover regional & customer trends, presenting findings to brand/customer teams. Creates and updates customer specific plan-o-grams to enable execution of shelving strategies. Executes post promotional analysis along with financial analysis to maximize promotional/program efficiencies.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Provides detailed sales information focused on key categories/customers to create insights and solutions that solve customer opportunities. Assists with category sales development priorities within a Customer Business Plan, including sales trend analysis, consumption analysis, in stock analysis, shelving and promotion evaluation. Monitors, measures and communicates the status of metrics against customer based initiatives and expected impact to near and long term demand to the sales team.
· Provides concise analysis and reporting on a regular basis for major accounts (e.g. monthly, seasonal and year-end reports) on state of the business.
· Prepares additional analyses and reports requested by customers.
· Responds to internal stakeholder requests for training, category management tools, plan-o-gram information or customer level analysis.
· Assists in the preparation and presentation of major account presentations.
· Supports the customer team during Sales & Operating Planning and Business planning processes with any required data transfer into templates.
· Conduct analyses and provides recommendations on product mix & SKU rationalization.
· Works in partnership with Senior Insight Analyst to identify knowledge gaps and organization of projects.
· Provides recommendations & tools for use with major customers to build relationships & sales.
· Works directly with the business to understand data requirements and provides the appropriate support.
· Works with IT to ensure that tools and techniques for data extractions and transformation meet the business processes, standards and guidelines
· Administrate and maintain source data systems
Qualifications Required:
· University degree in a business related discipline combined with 2-3 years analytical/sales/category management experience required.
· Experience of the Consumer Packaged Goods business.
· Expert PC skills, particularly MS Office, Cognos and Nielsen.
· Retail Link experience.
· Category management experience a plus.
· Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Intuitive business sense to know what questions to ask or data to probe.
· Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
· Ability to interact with all levels within the organization, while also maintaining and leveraging relationships with key customers.
· Well organized, detail oriented and excellent project management skills.
