1 year contract with the possibility of going permanent
Reporting to the Director of Operations, Finance the Financial Business Analyst, Operations plays a key role in providing financial support to the Operations Team. This would include involvement in CYP (Common Year Plan), corporate plan, wage forecast, assessment of Associate Earnings/Equity Position, and other tasks that consistently support operational strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for a comprehensive analysis of the financial performance for the Operation Region and communicate findings to the Finance Director, VP, and District Managers
Active involvement in the Common Year Plan process including:
Assist field in reviewing and analyzing plan vs trend and communicate anomalies/risks/opportunities that have operational implications
Review consolidated roll-ups and provide ad hoc reports/analysis as required
Coordination with the DMs/VPs on the completion status of store plans
Support in the preparation of corporate plans which encompasses the following:
Liaise with the Operation Department heads in completing the plans and reviewing the assumptions driving the budget dollars
Present to Corporate Accounting for approval
Update Department Heads on spending vs plan every period
Provide rest of year forecast to Corporate Accounting every quarter
Required to aid in enhancing the labour forecast model for the Operations Region and review results/ assumptions and provide analytical review to the Finance Director.
Key resource for generating store financial data and analysis as required (e.g. daily sales/counts calendar, Infinity dashboards, quarterly reviews, period results vs plan/LY)
Responsible for the accuracy of the Associate earnings reserve, maintain/update guarantees, periodic review with the VPs
Review store plan changes, implication on Associate Earnings, liaise with Retail Accounting to ensure revised plans are loaded to Lawson
Identify operational issues through analysis/review of financial data & the creation of action plans as required by the VPs
Consult with the Finance Director, regional staff, associates and other store management on issues as required (e.g. Equity position, changeover settlement)
Minimum 5 years of financial analysis experience is required.
Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Commerce.
Advanced knowledge of Excel.
Knowledge of BIDW, Lawson, Clarity, Essbase would be an asset.
Demonstrate analytical & problem solving skills.
Effective communication & interpersonal skills.
Enrollment /completion in a recognized accounting association (e.g. CGA, CMA, CA).
