<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"> </p>
<p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">In Crystal Reports Data source / database change can cause a mismatch of field names in reports. For example old field name “Account Number” was changed to Account_number. When Crystal reports detect this type of change you can point old report object to new database field by using mapping. Field mapping simply allows you to change the field to new one. </p>
<p></font></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Basically the underlying data stays the same but mismatch error will be resolved. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">How would you know that there is a field mismatch?</span></span></em></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Field mapping function triggers whenever crystal reports detect any change and field name change and allows the users to point the old name to new field name. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></span></p>
